Peter S. Saly

Question:

Peter S. Saly is an incontinent LOSER that cannot exist without causing disharmony where ever he is.  He’s not happy unless everybody is as miserable as he is.  He’s no archer – ask him what tournament he ever shot in – the answer is none.  He’s pissed off so many people in his twisted life that he doesn’t dare go shoot at an archery shot because someone there might have an accidental release. To see how despised and reviled he is in EVERY usenet group he has ever been in (and man are there a lot) use http://groups.google.com  and look up (search) on Peter Saly.  Notice that there are over 77,500 hits returned ’cause Petey has a LOT of people angry with him, and ALL of them that do not have him as the sender are essentially announcing what is already very obvious from his posts up here.  He is a dilettante of archery, having been run out of cooking, home improvements, canadian, psychology, gardening, cooking, and numerous other groups. You know he has to be sick – he’s even been run out of the psychotherapy group. LOL He gets his jollies by arguing and belittling anyone that disagrees with him – it is a pathological thing with him – some people are congenital liars – PeterGirl is congenitally male genital-less and has to pick fights until everybody gets wise and puts a filter on so they can ignore his rantings.  He gets incredibly foul.  Even the French Canadian and the Belgium groups curse him. He seems to think he can freely insult people and never expects someone to knock on his door in Minneapolis and smack him in his ugly mug.  He’s around 40, he was shunned by all of his associates in Canada. Now he  lives off of his parents and a disability check in Minneapolis. Leaching off of your parents is  a damn shame as it is, but moving to the same city just to wait for them to die is sickening. Petey needs to learn how to earn his own money and not wait to inherit his existance from his poor parent’s years of accomplishments and hard work. The best thing everyone here can do is SHUN him.  Don’t respond – its torture to him to not be able to get a rise out of anyone here.   Or just reply to his post with the one most accurate word to describe him.  LOSER. — This post was anonymized at http://www.xganon.com —

Hi @all, hope someone out there is able to help me. I am a Archer from Germany. I shoot FITA no field. Till last year i shot Easton ACE Shafts, now I nedd new shafts, but the ACE are too expensive (25,– EUR each shaft). Does anyone have any experience with other shafts? And where may I buy them…. Some more information: I have a recurve bow (spigarelli with border ml2 limbs), my draw length is 28", and i have a weight of 39# Thanks a lot Archer

Why dont you shoot a good carbon arrow like McKinney or ProSelect? Quite good and much more affordable. Go to: www.bogensport-forum.de.vu There are all the german archers. — Sven

Response:

Hello Archer: You might try Rauschert Archery.  I just bought 4 Dz. Carbon Express 200’s, with nock, and inserts.  Cost per dozen = $ 45.00 + 3.50 shipping, that’s total shipping cost.  Good deal.  If you would like, I can email you a printed flyer with the posted prices. Richard

Response:

Hi, You may want to consider Easton Redline arrows. They are carbon arrows, as light as ACEs, come in the same stiffnesses and are compatible with "G" nocks and ACC points. They are almost as fast as ACEs, maybe just a little slower due to the larger surface frictional drag. They are of similar diameters as ACC arrows.  I switched to them from the ACEs that are significantly more expensive. In my opinion they are good value for money. I think the biggest disadvantage in comparison with ACEs is that they catch more side wind due to their larger diameter. You should be able to find all the info on Easton’s web site. Lou

I can say that I’ve had reasonable results switching from X10s to Carbontech McKinneys, and they are *much* cheaper (closer in price to ACCs over here in the UK). The cost difference is enough that I didn’t worry about buying a set "just to try", and I’ve never felt the need to switch back… – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->Till last year i shot Easton ACE Shafts, now I nedd new shafts, but the ACE >are too expensive (25,– EUR each shaft). Any suggestions where to buy the McKinneys in Europe ?  I tried several online shops – but most of them are exclusively favoring easton …  The only place I found dealing with Carbontech McKinneys is altservices.co.uk, with a price of 13.7 euros/shaft. Response:

If you mean performance comparisons I can’t give you any, as I’ve never shot ACEs (I went straight to X10s). There’s been at least one 1400 FITA shot with McKinney’s with a compound, though… Weight: I think they generally come up somewhere between an X10 and an ACE (so heavier than ACEs), though at the spine I’m using there’s not much in it. Tolerances: seem to be good; I ended up with a set of eleven (unfletched) shafts with a weight range of less than +-0.5 grains from the mean shaft weight (the 12th shaft was about 2 grains lighter than the others for some reason…). – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> I can say that I’ve had reasonable results switching from X10s to > Carbontech McKinneys, and they are *much* cheaper (closer in price to > ACCs over here in the UK). Simple Handicap system

Question:

Hi,  Our local archery club is planning to have a indoor 50 ft winter league and would like to use some kind of handicap system to give the competition some kind of validity for the competitors of different ability. I have read about those of FITA and GNAS but would like something easier, that we don’t have to use all kinds of charts to make the computations with. I realize these other systems would give a better representation of abilities but we’re trying to stick with the old adage "Keep it simple stupid" the stupid being me. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Rudy

Hi Hans,           I don’t know of one but if you log on to www.gnas.org which is the governing body for archery in the UK and look at how to and select the region that you will be staying in it will give you a contact telephone number for the regional secretary who will put you in touch with your nearest club. Hope this helps Neil

Hi Ted: Check with the Archer’s Nook http://mars.execulink.com/~archnook/index.html . They are a Pro Shop based in London Ontario, and I’m sure they can help. They are also a terrific retailer. I’m in Victoria BC, and I order from them despite the fact that they are about 3,000 KM away ;) You may also want to browse the Federation of Canadian Arches’ Web site http://www.fca.ca/ as I’m sure they have a club list. Deben Archery Club new web site (includes URL!)

Question:

Following some helpful advice, I’ve modified the width of the pages, so they should now fit properly on a 800×600 display (I use a 1024×768 display and wrongly assumed that setting the page width to 800 would be ok). The URL is www.deben-archery.org.uk and I’d still be pleased to hear any comments on the design. Happily, the site seems to be fulfilling its intended purpose as we’ve attracted some enquiries from people interested in trying the sport. I’ll try to regularly update the content to keep the interest going, so please revisit from time to time. Gordon Brown (who, fortunately, is a much better archer than he is at web design……)

Don’t worry about design. Worry about content. If you have useful things to say about archery I (for one) will frequent your site. Get the information up, and keep it up to date. Too many sites are carefully built (and sometimes beautifully built) and then left. These site are of no use.         BugBear

Bad Business

Question:

Why is it so hard to get what you want when it comes to Archery? Since I have started shooting, everything I order (which has to be ordered because no one keeps inventory) is a struggle and it takes forever to get it. I ordered a scope directly from the manufacture and it has been almost four weeks now, they still haven’t shipped it? I ordered a couple of shirts and it’s been about 5-6 weeks? What is up with this industry. I am in customer service and the last time I checked no service is bad business. What I really want to know is if everyone else has the same problems I do. Is it just my pro shop or do the archery companies just not give a damn? Thanks for letting me vent! :) M.D.    >>>—-> * Sent from RemarQ http://www.remarq.com The Internet’s Discussion Network * The fastest and easiest way to search and participate in Usenet – Free!

Response:

Hi MD, I just recieved my archery stuff which I ordered in Jan. This particular company sent it to the wrong country! (typo on the mailing address).  And of a dozen of 2114, they swapped one shaft with a 2213.  I was really close to getting my credit card company to cancel the payment. On the other hand, there are some very efficient companies which I have had dealt with, like Archer’s Nook, Alternatives, etc.  They promptly replied to my enquires.  The only reason I do not order from them regularly is due to the higher price.  But I think you pay for what (service) you get. Thus it does depend on the company that you order from, IMHO. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > Why is it so hard to get what you want when it comes to Archery? > Since I have started shooting, everything I order (which has to > be ordered because no one keeps inventory) is a struggle and it > takes forever to get it. Now I would like to add in a shop perspective.  I have ordered some parts for customers and been able to get them the very next day.  (I have one distributor that is very close to me.)  Also I recently had some stabalizers that took nearly six weeks to get.  I think that you might want to look at your pro shop to see if that might be the problem or it might just be that where they order from is not shipping to them.  I know that for most of my customers I would go to the ends of the earth to help but sometimes the distributors or the manufacturers just don’t have the piece on hand or they screw up your order.  I think that if you are having alot of problems you would really want to try to get a new shop to go to.  The other thing I would do is talk to the owner/manager and find out why you havent gotten your products yet.
