Oneida Eagle Bows any good???

Question:

OK I don’t know squat about compound bows but I just traded my old Bear Alaskan for a three year old Oneida Eagle aeroforce 80. You may ask why, well I’m really not to sure myself other than I liked Mongol like the look ot the Oneida. I’ve never been much of a fan of compund bows but the odd factor of the Oneida trips my trigger. My question is where are the Oneida bows on the quality scale. Are the good, reliable, accurate, et. et. And are there any major flaws in the design. Any pointers/info on maintenece would be much appreaciated. BTW the bow has new cams and cables.

Response:

I’ve been using an Aeroforce X80 for about five years now and have had no problems with it at all. I’ve replaced the bow string and the power cables a couple of times, but that’s wear and tear. What I like about the Oneida is that it is smooth the draw, can be made really quiet, and is as accurate as it other bow – it’s the person using it that makes the difference. Oneida’s are also easy to work on once you get the hang of them. Another thing that’s important to me is that you can get them in a looong draw length – mine’s 34". What don’t I like about the Aeroforce? They’re a bit heavier than most bows and that can become noticable after two days on a field course. For more about the Aeroforce and Oneida bows in general, have a look at the Oneida web site at: http://www.oneidaeaglebows.com/ — Alan Avent Before you buy.

They are a excellent bow. Lots of them sold in the central NY area. They are a finger shooter dream bow, good bow length, high letoff, and easy to maintain. I do suggest you get a good bow string wax and wax both the string and FF cables, this will extend the life of both. I also use some light oil on the wheel/cams, and then shoot several arrows. I have been told that the staff at the factory is excellent and if you have a problem they are willing to work with you….

I bought an Onieda a couple years ago. I found it the finest shooting bow in the archery shop. I was shoot 1 inch groups at 40 yards with it in a couple days. I bought a second one this summer for back up incase of any troubles while hunting. They are easily changed to 80 % letoff and they are free from the let off points that all other compounds have with wheels/cams. I took my first deer with it last year and have since taken 2 more. I have only one small complaint about them and that is, they are a tad louder than other compounds. I shoot full length 2512’s with 100 grain points. When I shoot my bear arrows, full length 2317’s with 150 grain points its alot quieter but I prefer the flatter shooting for deer. Bigbuck aka.
